The fruitful cooperation between Georgia and the United Arab Emirates across various sectors was discussed on Wednesday in a meeting between the Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, who participates in the ongoing World Governments Summit in Dubai, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and the Prime Minister of the UAE and the Ruler of Dubai.

The meeting focused on the positive dynamics of economic cooperation, the favourable investment environment in Georgia, and state programmes supporting business development, the Government Administration said.

The officials also discussed the successful investment projects of the largest companies of the United Arab Emirates in Georgia and highlighted the importance of the memorandum signed with Emaar Properties/Eagle Hills during Kobakhidze’s visit to Abu Dhabi last month, which involved an unprecedented investment of $6 billion in Georgia.

In this context, the parties underlined the Tbilisi Dry Port project, which would be implemented with the investment of the Abu Dhabi Ports Group and would be completed in 2025.

The meeting also emphasised the potential for increasing trade turnover between Georgia and the United Arab Emirates, developing cooperation in energy and tourism, and the importance of fully utilising it.

Kobakhidze extended his gratitude to Al Maktoum for the invitation to the World Governments Summit and noted that it represented an important platform for deepening ties between countries and discussing issues of common interest.

The Government head officially invited the Prime Minister of the UAE to Georgia.
