Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili on Wednesday said the Georgian Government was placing great importance on deepening economic cooperation with Uzbekistan.

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Tuesday commenced his official visit to Uzbekistan.

In her remarks, Botchorishvili noted that the Georgia-Uzbekistan Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation was serving as an excellent platform for discussing various sectors, ultimately contributing to the enhancement of economic collaboration between the two nations.

“This is an important format that exists between Georgia and Uzbekistan. Just as with other countries, it is very important for us to deepen economic cooperation with Uzbekistan, as well as with Central Asian countries in general, and cooperation in this direction”, the Georgian FM said.

“It is also a valuable platform for planning future partnerships and identifying priority areas for Georgia in its collaboration with Uzbekistan. Additionally, it allows us to hear the perspectives and proposals of our partners”, she continued.

Botchorishvili further emphasised that there was substantial potential for economic growth, which she said “requires deeper political dialogue to be fully realised”.
