Stable at 2.6% in the EU
The euro area annual inflation rate was 2.4% in April 2024, stable compared to March 2024. A year earlier, the rate was 7.0%. In the EU, the annual inflation was 2.6% in April 2024, stable compared to March 2024. A year earlier, the rate was 8.1%. These figures are published by Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union.
The lowest annual rates were registered in Lithuania (0.4%), Denmark (0.5%) and Finland (0.6%). The highest annual rates were recorded in Romania (6.2%), Belgium (4.9%) and Croatia (4.7%). Compared with March 2024, annual inflation fell in fifteen Member States, remained stable in four and rose in eight.
In April 2024, the highest contribution to the annual euro area inflation rate came from services (+1.64 percentage points, pp), followed by food, alcohol & tobacco (+0.55 pp), non-energy industrial goods (+0.23 pp) and energy (-0.04 pp).

MANILA, PHILIPPINES (28 July 2025) — The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has appointed Leah Gutierrez as Director General for its Central and West Asia Department.
As Director General, Ms. Gutierrez will deliver ADB's strategic agenda in the Central and West Asia region. She will lead ADB's engagement with 11 countries: Afghanistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Türkiye, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. Her appointment takes effect today.
