Roads Department reports slope collapse during Kvesheti-Kobi road construction
During the construction of the Kvesheti-Kobi road, a slope collapse occurred in the village of Tskere, resulting in damage to a local cemetery.
The Roads Department has issued a statement confirming that reinforcement works are currently underway, and the contractor will fully compensate for the damages caused.
“On 29 March, in the village of Tskere, the melting snow led to the collapse of a temporarily reinforced slope during the open-pit tunnel construction for the Kvesheti-Kobi road project. The collapse caused damage to the village cemetery, including two graves.
Active slope reinforcement works are ongoing on site to stabilise and restore the area as swiftly as possible. The contractor will carry out substantial reinforcement of the damaged slope and provide full compensation for all damages incurred.
All activities are under constant supervision to ensure compliance with safety regulations and environmental considerations,” the Roads Department reported.
