Mariam Kvrivishvili Introduced David Vardiashvili as Georgian Gas Transportation Company New General Director
Mariam Kvrivishvili, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, introduced David Vardiashvili as the General Director of the Georgian Gas Transportation Company. Since 2022, Vardiashvili had served as the First Deputy State Representative in Samtskhe-Javakheti Region.
Inga Pkhaladze, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, also attended the presentation of the new director.
The Minister stated that the Georgian Gas Transportation Company has a crucial function – it ensures the smooth and stable operation of the main gas pipelines on the territory of Georgia and promotes the uninterrupted and safe supply of natural gas.
Mariam Kvrivishvili also highlighted the state gasification program, which the company has been implementing since 2013. Upon its completion, 93% of the country’s population will have access to natural gas.
“With the state’s efforts, over the past 12 years, natural gas has become available to settlements that had never been gasified before. The state gasification program has benefited not only households but has also contributed to the development of micro and small businesses, especially in the regions” – the Minister said.
Mariam Kvrivishvili also highlighted that the company’s new head has extensive experience in leadership positions within the energy sector, especially in the gas industry. The Minister wished David Vardiashvili success in his future endeavors. Kvrivishvili also thanked the former head of the company for his work.
David Vardiashvili has held leadership positions in the Georgian State Electrosystem and the Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation. Additionally, from 2016 to 2017, David Vardiashvili served as Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs. He also has experience in leadership positions at the Emergency Management Service and the Revenue Service.
David Vardiashvili graduated from the Georgian Technical University and Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, with qualifications of a construction engineer and a lawyer.
David Vardiashvili is a Doctor of Technical Sciences and holds the position of the Academic Secretary of the Georgian Engineering Academy.
