Georgian wine presented in Japan
With the financial support of the National Wine Agency and the organization of its contractor marketing company, Red Bridge, a Georgian wine tasting seminar was held in Sendai, the administrative center of Miyagi Prefecture, Japan.
The Georgian wine tasting seminars, known as the “Road Show,” are being held in the Japanese cities of Sapporo, Sendai, and Tokyo from April 7 to 13.
According to the National Wine Agency, the presentation in Sendai was led by the head of Red Bridge, Master of Wine Kenichi Ohashi, who introduced Georgian wine, covering its centuries-old history, traditional winemaking methods, main grape varieties, and the development of the modern Georgian wine industry.
Japan is one of the strategic export markets for Georgian wine. In 2025, up to 200,000 liters of Georgian wine were exported to Japan, marking a 42% increase compared to 2024.
The Japanese market is distinguished by a strong demand for high-quality products and a growing interest in authentic, unique flavors. Activities like these seminars contribute to export growth, enhance production standards, and refine marketing strategies, strengthening the competitiveness of Georgian wine in the international market over the long term.
