World Bank reaffirms support for Georgia’s reforms and infrastructure funding - Georgian Finance Minister
The World Bank has confirmed its continued support for Georgia in both reform implementation and the financing of infrastructure projects, said on Thursday Georgian minister of finance Lasha Khutsishvili.
As the minister noted, the discussions during the meetings with the World Bank managing director and vice president focused on a range of priority areas for the country.
He noted that Georgia stands out not only in the region but globally in terms of both reforms and economic development.
“According to the five-year outlook, Georgia is the fastest-growing economy. We discussed specific infrastructure projects financed by the World Bank. In addition, we reviewed future projects in which the World Bank will be actively involved in implementation and financing. These will include road and railway infrastructure, water systems, and other infrastructure projects fully aligned with our national priorities. The World Bank remains one of the largest investors in Georgia, having already invested more than $5 billion”, the minister said.
The finance minister added that the World Bank will continue to actively invest in Georgia’s economy.
