Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Tamar Ioseliani hosted a Turkmen delegation, led by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Nokerguli Ataguliev, on a tour of Georgia’s seaports and surrounding logistics infrastructure.

The delegation members received a comprehensive overview of APM Terminals Poti’s operational activities during the site visit. Tamar Ioseliani and Nokerguli Ataguliev also toured the newly developed Poti seaport, operated by Pace Group.

During the visit, the delegation was introduced to the infrastructure, existing capabilities, and capacities of various maritime terminals.

Following their visit to Poti, the guests inspected the ongoing construction works at the Anaklia Deep Sea Port, where dredging is being carried out by the Belgian company Jan De Nul. Tamar Ioseliani outlined the project details and plans to the delegation.

The Turkmen side expressed particular interest in developing warehousing and logistics infrastructure near Georgia’s ports, as well as making investments in this sector.

“We showcased Georgia’s port infrastructure and operational capacities to the Turkmen delegation. We toured both the existing and new seaports in Poti and visited the construction site of the Anaklia Deep Sea Port, sharing our future development plans. The ongoing developments along the Middle Corridor are of vital importance. In this context, Central Asia is a crucial partner and transit route; its active involvement is key to enhancing the corridor’s efficiency and competitiveness. We are working closely with partner countries, including Turkmenistan, to increase cargo turnover along this route and to facilitate these flows effectively and swiftly,” Tamar Ioseliani remarked.

The Turkmen delegation, accompanied by the Deputy Minister, was hosted in Anaklia and Poti by Ivane Abashidze, Director of the LEPL Maritime Transport Agency; Zurab Sichinava, Director of Anaklia Sea Port LLC; and Lasha Abashidze, Director General of JSC Georgian Railways. The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Turkmenistan, Konstantine Sabiashvili, also visited Anaklia and Poti.
